The anticipation of “what to expect” once again runs high in Azeroth ever since Blizzard’s announcement for 

Wow Cataclysm Classic. But wait… are we actually doing this? Wasn’t Cataclysm that pivotal expansion of 

World of Warcraft that gave us the transition from the old Wow to the new modern MMORPG experience? 

The innovative shift came because of the redesigning of Kalimodor and Eastern Kingdoms, flexible class and 

race eligibility, reworked talent tree, Archaeology as a profession, and so on.

The point of emphasis is that Wow no longer felt familiar— at least not familiar in contrast to the 

older expansions. So, does the label “Classic”really work here? How is Blizzard planning on stretching 

its successful Classic series all the way to Cataclysm? That’s something only time will tell but, in the meantime, 

here are 10 exciting new changes making their way to the upcoming WoW Cataclysm Classic. 

- Guild Finder and Guild Achievements 

Everything is better and more efficient when you can filter out certain aspects to achieve the best results possible. 

The Guild Finder facilitates you in scavenging guilds that serve your gameplay preference, class, and game time. 

Consequently, the Guild Finder comes with three core filter options: Guild Interests, Availability, and Class Roles. 

In the Guild Interest section, you can tick whatever activity you feel you’d be running the most with your guild 

members. Whether it be questing, dungeons, raids, PvP, or Role Playing.

The Availability section comes with two options: Weekdays and Weekends. Clicking on one of the 

two displays guilds that have active players during those days of the week. Tick both if you are as free as a bird. 

The Class Roles section consists of the three PvP and PvE roles: Tank, Healer, and Damage. Tick the one in which 

your character specializes.

If you seek validation by earning achievements, then you are in for a treat. The Guild Achievements now 

have awesome rewards that’ll motivate players to band together and achieve great things.

- Reforging

In World of Warcraft, the quality of gear determines your performance in questing, dungeons, raids, 

PvP, and PvE. The reforging feature helps elevate the forging experience. It helps customize a gear set in 

accordance with your liking. To be more specific, you can take any item of your liking and reforge its secondary 

stats. For instance, swapping spell power for critical strike rating.

- Ranked Battlegrounds 

It is time to sound the war horns because competitive PvP battlegrounds are here! Ranked battlegrounds 

will require a full group to participate and you’ll be pitted against another full group of adversaries. 

Ranked Battlegrounds will reward you with Conquest points. Your rating will determine your battleground title. 

Anywhere from a Knight to the Hero of the Alliance Ruthless title.

- Crowd Control Retouch

I think we have all as newbies made the grave mistake of pulling dungeon mobs in the worst way possible. 

You’d CC one mob and it’ll bring all its friends to the party which inevitably led to a lot of dying. Rest easy now 

since Cataclysm Classic will rework its CC making it far cleaner than before. This means that if the mob isn’t already 

in combat and you try to pull it with traps and polymorphs, it will not attract the surrounding targets. This is truly 

worth waiting for change.

- Dungeons Journal

Dungeons Journal, in other words, is an everything-you-need-to-know book guide to what to expect from 

dungeon bosses. Everything from their abilities, mechanics, and the kind of loot they’d be dropping. Dungeons 

Journal is undoubtedly going to go a long way in smoothening the dungeon crawler system in Wow Cataclysm Classic.

- World Markers

New World Markers can be allocated to specific positions to relay messages to your group on where to stand. 

Previously, the flares would only appear on the top of a player, but now there’ll be zero confusion in regard to the 

battle plans. Safe to say, moments like “LEEROY JENKINS!” will be greatly diminished by these upgraded World Markers.

- Transmog Void Storage 

When you are committing to a fantasy world whose size and myriad of early-game and end-game activities are immense, 

you are bound to run low on bag space. This can become increasingly agitating as managing bag space again and again 

consumes time and diverts a player from activities he/she really wants to take part in. The Transmog Void Storage will 

play a crucial part in mitigating space issues. As the name suggests, it is a storage system that facilitates players to store 

their most loved gear appearances while keeping space for other necessary items. Void storage separates itself from the

- Two New Races: Worgen and Goblin

Two intriguing new races with unique racial abilities— one for each faction. The Worgen comes with racial abilities such as Darkflight, 

Viciousness, Aberration, and Flayer. Whereas Goblins have the good old Rocket Jump, Time is Money, Best Deals Anywhere, and Better Living 

Chemistry. With the upcoming Cataclysm Classic, you can surely expect to see a whole lot of wolves and goblins running around.

- Critical Heal Buff 

Healers will party hard with this one. In a nutshell, healing has been amplified. Almost doubled! All healing critical strikes 

will now heal x2 times. This buff will greatly improve the efficiency of a group when backed up by their ever-vigilant healer. 

So, if you are hitting for a 10k heal, it’ll go up to a 20. It is a mega jump/buff unlike in WOTLK.

- Improved Questing Experience 

As aforementioned, Cataclysm was the expansion that paved the way for a major transition in World of Warcraft history— transforming the old 

Wow to a modern one. This change affected the questing experience and whether it is positive or negative, the debate carries on. However, 

it certainly has some straightforward pros that we’ll discuss right now. In the upcoming Wow Cataclysm Classic, you’ll witness a 

reworked XP system. It will be a lot easier to level up unlike in the previous expansions. This change was incorporated with the increased 

Level Cap of 80. Furthermore, picking up quests and delivering them will also feel much more linear than before. Your character won’t 

need to jump from zone to zone. You can simply accept multiple quests from a specific zone and complete them without leaving it even once.
